SUMMARY:Keepers of the Wild on Route 66
DESCRIPTION:Keepers of the Wild on Route 66October 24\, 2026 \n$149 \n\nJoin us for a wildly memorable day along Historic Route 66! We’ll travel through Arizona’s rugged high-desert scenery\, making a comfort stop along the way before arriving in Kingman. Upon arrival\, we’ll enjoy time for lunch on self. \nAfter lunch\, we’ll continue east along the Mother Road to Valentine\, home of Keepers of the Wild\, an accredited nonprofit wildlife sanctuary nestled within a picturesque 175-acre canyon. Founded in 1995\, Keepers of the Wild is dedicated to rescuing and providing lifelong care for neglected\, abused\, abandoned\, and surrendered wildlife. \nUnlike a traditional zoo\, the sanctuary does not buy\, sell\, trade\, breed\, or allow public interaction with its animals. Instead\, its rescued residents are given spacious natural habitats\, individualized nutrition\, veterinary care\, enrichment\, and the freedom to roam\, rest\, hide\, and play at their own pace. \nWe’ll climb aboard a safari vehicle for a fascinating 75-minute guided tour led by one of the sanctuary’s knowledgeable Keepers. As we travel through the canyon\, we may encounter lions\, tigers\, bears\, wolves\, leopards\, primates\, cougars\, bobcats\, coyotes\, and other rescued animals. Our Keeper will share fascinating facts and heartfelt stories about the animals and how they came to call the sanctuary home. \nFollowing our safari\, we’ll have time to browse the gift shop before beginning our journey home. Admission and gift shop purchases directly support the sanctuary’s ongoing rescue efforts and the care of its animal residents\, making this an experience that is both exciting and meaningful. \nIf Keepers of the Wild has been on your list of places to experience\, join us for an unforgettable adventure! \nDepart: Mesa 6:45 a.m. • Scottsdale 7:15 a.m. • Phoenix 7:30 a.m. • Northwest 7:45 a.m.\nReturn: 7 p.m. \n\n\n \n \n Please enable javascript in your browser to book\nCancellation Policy — ONE-DAY Van or Motorcoach Tours must be paid for when you make your reservation. SUMMARY:Kitt Peak Observatory
DESCRIPTION:Kitt Peak ObservatoryOctober 26-27\, 2026 \n$499 per person\, double occupancy + Single Supplement: $74 \nDay One: Mission San Xavier del Bac\, Casino Del Sol & Kitt Peak National Observatory \nAutumn is the perfect time to visit Tucson\, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the American Southwest. We’ll begin at Mission San Xavier del Bac\, known as “The White Dove of the Desert.” Founded by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692\, this stunning National Historic Landmark features a richly decorated interior filled with remarkable statuary and murals offering a glimpse into 18th-century Spanish Colonial life. \nFrom there\, we’re off to Casino Del Sol\, a luxurious AAA Four-Diamond resort. After checking in and taking time to refresh\, enjoy lunch on self at one of the resort’s several on-site dining options\, including the Festa International Buffet. \nLater that afternoon\, we’ll travel high into the Quinlan Mountains for the Nightly Observing Program at Kitt Peak National Observatory. Located on the Tohono O’odham Nation at an elevation of nearly 7\,000 feet\, Kitt Peak is home to an extraordinary collection of optical and radio telescopes. \nOur evening begins at the Visitor Center\, where we’ll explore engaging exhibits and enjoy a light meal with a choice of a turkey\, vegetarian\, or gluten-free sandwich. A docent-led introduction to astronomy will be followed by an outdoor session identifying stars and constellations using high-powered binoculars. We’ll then step inside one of the telescope domes to view deep-sky objects through a powerful research-grade telescope—an unforgettable evening of exploration beneath the stars. \nTemperatures drop quickly at this elevation\, so warm clothing is essential. Please wear long pants\, closed-toe walking shoes\, and a jacket. \nDay Two: Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium \nBreakfast is on self at the hotel\, with several food outlets available for a relaxed and easy start to the morning. We’ll then visit the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium\, located on the beautiful University of Arizona campus. \nEstablished in 1975\, Flandrau offers thoughtfully designed exhibits and immersive experiences exploring astronomy\, space\, geology\, energy\, and optics. Two floors of exhibits invite visitors to discover our fascinating universe while learning about real research conducted at the University of Arizona. \nWe’ll also enjoy a private presentation in the Eos Foundation Planetarium Theatre\, a recently renovated space featuring a 4K fulldome projection system\, surround sound\, and premium stadium-style seating. \nFollowing our planetarium experience\, we’ll head to Gentle Ben’s Brewing Company for lunch on self. A Tucson favorite since 1971\, Gentle Ben’s offers both indoor and patio seating\, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal before beginning our journey home. \n\n \n \n Please enable javascript in your browser to book\nCancellation Policy — ONE-DAY Van or Motorcoach Tours must be paid for when you make your reservation.
