This is the perfect time of the year to get out and explore Gilbert’s downtown Heritage District. Still retaining its small-town charm, this fast-growing district offers a really walkable Main Street that is home to a burgeoning food scene. Lunch is on self at the restaurant of your choice, and with culinary powerhouses lining the street, there is sure to be something wonderful for everyone. Gilbert’s Heritage District is also home to the Hale Center Theatre, offering an intimate theatre experience and comfortable seating in the round. We’ll sit back and enjoy a matinee performance of Big River, which follows Huck Finn on a musical journey as he helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom. Big River is a hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming celebration of pure Americana, with a jubilant score of Cajun, gospel, folk, country and blues by country music legend Roger Miller.
