Dolan Ellis at the Arizona Folklore Preserve
Saturday February 15| $95
Dolan Ellis, Arizona’s official state balladeer, dreamed of a place where the songs and stories celebrating Arizona and our western heritage could be performed and preserved. For a time Dolan thought that his center should be located in Fountain Hills, conveniently near Phoenix, but after a visit to the Huachuca Mountains in 1990, Dolan knew that he had found the perfect location for his preserve—a region rich with beauty, history and folklore! He promptly purchased 15 acres in scenic Ramsey Canyon. The Arizona Folklore Preserve was founded 1996 and Dolan began performing at the Moffett House, a small 1920’s ranch house on his property. In 2000 Dolan joined with the University of Arizona to build his dream of a state-of-the-art theatre—the current Folklore Center. Artist-in-Residence, Dolan Ellis performs at the theater one weekend every month, and guest artists pick-up the balance of the weekend shows. We’ve planned our tour to coincide with his February matinee performance. We’ll stop for lunch on self at Olive Garden in Sierra Vista, serving super affordable Italian favorites. This is a remarkable tour that fills very quickly. Make a reservation and join us!
