Springtime in Southern California
featuring Temecula Valley Wine Country

April 9 – 12, 2024
$999 (Based Upon Double Occupancy) +$225 (Single Supplement)

DAY ONE

We’ll leave the Valley with plenty of pit stops, on our way to Yuma, Arizona, where we’ll enjoy lunch on self at Lute’s Casino. A great favorite with the locals, Lute’s was built in 1901 as a general store, turned into a pool hall in 1920, and is now a no-frills greasy spoon—dishing up cheeseburgers, sandwiches and some traditional Mexican dishes. After lunch we’ll head for Alpine, California and the beautiful Viejas Casino Resort, our headquarters for the next three nights. The Viejas Resort offers three luxury hotel towers, along with six restaurants, a lush pool and lounge area, an outlet shopping center, full-service spa and so much more. We’ll be offered $10 a night towards any of the food outlets, plus $25 in gambling bucks. We’ll check into our hotel rooms, enjoy dinner on self at the restaurant of your choice and a free evening.

DAY TWO

We’ll enjoy breakfast on self at the hotel—an opportunity to use your $10 credit. After breakfast we’ll head out to explore the famous rolling hills of Carlsbad. For more than 60 years The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch have announced the arrival of spring in North San Diego County, with an unforgettable burst of color and beauty—nearly 50 acres of Giant Ranunculus flowers flowers—with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. We’ll travel comfortably through the fields in hay wagons drawn by antique tractors, an annual tradition that has become part of the areas local heritage. Later we we’ll head south to enjoy lunch, on self, in San Diego’s vibrant Little Italy. Once home to San Diego’s flourishing tuna fishing industry and generations of Italian families who made their living on the sea, Little Italy is now a lively neighborhood with cozy patio cafés, international restaurants, craft brew stops, urban wineries, art galleries, sophisticated shops, boutique hotels, and the festive Piazza della Famiglia. Later we’ll board San Diego’s famous Old Town Trolleys for an exciting two-hour tour of the city’s most notable attractions, including Hotel del Coronado, Balboa Park, Gaslamp Quarter, the Whaley House, Star of India and so much more! Early evening we’ll head back to our hotel to enjoy dinner on self and a free evening.

DAY THREE

We’ll enjoy breakfast on self at the hotel—again, an opportunity to use your $10 credit. After breakfast we’ll travel to Temecula Valley Wine Country. Spanning more than 33,000 acres—the largest viticultural area in Southern California —Temecula Valley Wine Country is one of California’s best-kept secrets. First planted in 1968, the re-gion is now home to nearly 50 wineries, from boutique to large-production, rustic to modern. Home to three distinctly different wine trails, we’ll begin with a delicious lunch and wine tasting on the De Portola Wine Trail, winding us through Temecula Valley’s equestrian area while showcasing wines styles from around the world. We’ll also tour and taste wine on the very popular Rancho California Wine Trail, home to the region’s oldest and most well-known wineries. Leaving the beaten path, we’ll explore and taste wine on the wildly scenic Calle Cotento Wine Trail, offering sweeping vineyard views in every direction. And it’s all included! Early evening we’ll head back to our hotel to enjoy dinner on self and a free evening.
