Backroads & BBQ on the Apache Trail

April 22, 2026

$119 $99

Following years of storm damage and repairs, the scenic stretch of the Apache Trail leading to Tortilla Flat is once again open, making this the perfect time to revisit one of Arizona’s most unforgettable drives.

We’ll travel the same rugged route once used by wagon trains and stagecoaches in the days of the Old West. Winding past dramatic canyons, striking rock formations, desert flora and fauna, and sweeping views of Canyon Lake, the Apache Trail remains one of the most scenic and storied backroad adventures in the state.

Just a few miles into the trail, we’ll arrive at Tortilla Flat for lunch on self at the lively BBQ patio. This authentic remnant of a ghost town began as a stage stop in 1904 and today serves up classic Arizona fare in a one-of-a-kind setting. The menu features burgers, BBQ favorites, sandwiches, and hearty plates—perfect for a relaxed and flavorful stop along the trail.

Wide-open skies, desert beauty, and a little Old West charm—there’s nothing quite like the Apache Trail in springtime.
