Discover Kartchner Caverns

February 16, 2026

$139 Sale $129

Nestled at the eastern base of the Whetstone Mountains, Kartchner Caverns State Park is one of Arizona’s greatest natural treasures—and February is a wonderful time to experience it. In November 1974, two adventurous cavers, Gary Tenen and Randy Tufts, set out across the limestone hills in search of “a cave no one had ever found.” What they discovered would become one of the most significant cave finds in state history.

Recognizing the cave’s extraordinary scientific value and fragility, the discoverers kept its existence secret for more than three years before sharing it with landowners James and Lois Kartchner in 1978. Together, they were committed to protecting the cave, eventually partnering with Arizona State Parks to ensure its careful preservation for future generations.

Today, Kartchner Caverns is celebrated as one of the world’s most remarkable “live” limestone caves. As water continues to seep through the rock above, formations grow in real time—delicate stalactites stretching downward like shimmering icicles, stalagmites rising like ancient pillars, and rare mineral features found almost nowhere else on Earth.

On our memorable one-hour guided tour, we’ll step into this otherworldly realm and witness a landscape that is very much alive—still forming and truly breathtaking. Prior to our cave tour, we’ll enjoy lunch on self at a nearby plaza offering a variety of fast-food options, giving everyone time to eat comfortably before heading underground.
