$499 per person, double occupancy + Single Supplement: $74

Day One: Mission San Xavier del Bac, Casino Del Sol & Kitt Peak National Observatory

Autumn is the perfect time to visit Tucson, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the American Southwest. We’ll begin at Mission San Xavier del Bac, known as “The White Dove of the Desert.” Founded by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692, this stunning National Historic Landmark features a richly decorated interior filled with remarkable statuary and murals offering a glimpse into 18th-century Spanish Colonial life.

From there, we’re off to Casino Del Sol, a luxurious AAA Four-Diamond resort. After checking in and taking time to refresh, enjoy lunch on self at one of the resort’s several on-site dining options, including the Festa International Buffet.

Later that afternoon, we’ll travel high into the Quinlan Mountains for the Nightly Observing Program at Kitt Peak National Observatory. Located on the Tohono O’odham Nation at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet, Kitt Peak is home to an extraordinary collection of optical and radio telescopes.

Our evening begins at the Visitor Center, where we’ll explore engaging exhibits and enjoy a light meal with a choice of a turkey, vegetarian, or gluten-free sandwich. A docent-led introduction to astronomy will be followed by an outdoor session identifying stars and constellations using high-powered binoculars. We’ll then step inside one of the telescope domes to view deep-sky objects through a powerful research-grade telescope—an unforgettable evening of exploration beneath the stars.

Temperatures drop quickly at this elevation, so warm clothing is essential. Please wear long pants, closed-toe walking shoes, and a jacket.

Day Two: Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium

Breakfast is on self at the hotel, with several food outlets available for a relaxed and easy start to the morning. We’ll then visit the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium, located on the beautiful University of Arizona campus.

Established in 1975, Flandrau offers thoughtfully designed exhibits and immersive experiences exploring astronomy, space, geology, energy, and optics. Two floors of exhibits invite visitors to discover our fascinating universe while learning about real research conducted at the University of Arizona.

We’ll also enjoy a private presentation in the Eos Foundation Planetarium Theatre, a recently renovated space featuring a 4K fulldome projection system, surround sound, and premium stadium-style seating.

Following our planetarium experience, we’ll head to Gentle Ben’s Brewing Company for lunch on self. A Tucson favorite since 1971, Gentle Ben’s offers both indoor and patio seating, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal before beginning our journey home.
