Day One: FLY TO WASHINGTON, D.C. Upon arrival at the airport, meet your Tour Director and transfer to your hotel for a five-night stay in the Washington, D.C. area. Washington, D.C. is an extraordinary city with many personalities: a functioning federal hub, an international metropolis, a picturesque tourist destination, a treasure trove of our nation’s history and artifacts, and a cosmopolitan center that still manages to retain a neighborly, small-town charm.
Overnight: Washington, D.C., area
Day Two: ARLINGTON – DC CITY TOUR – WHITE HOUSE VISITOR CENTER After breakfast, visit Arlington National Cemetery, America’s shrine to valor and sacrifice. Board the tram to see the gravesites of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, as well as the solemn Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. View the film White House: Reflections from Within for a deeper understanding of life inside the Executive Mansion.
Next, enjoy a scenic “spring stroll” along the National Mall’s Tidal Basin, where the iconic cherry blossoms create a breathtaking display. Along the way, stop at four inspiring memorials: the Jefferson Memorial, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and the National World War II Memorial. This evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a festive Welcome Dinner.

Day Three: CHERRY BLOSSOM CRUISE – SMITHSONIAN – D.C. ILLUMINATION TOUR
Today, visit the National Portrait Gallery, where the collections focus on images of notable Americans. Midday, board the Odyssey III for a festive Cherry Blossom Cruise on the Potomac River. Enjoy a signature pink drink, live narration, and a delicious lunch while soaking in the beautiful spring scenery. Afterward, stop at the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima Statue). Later, enjoy free time to explore your choice of the world-famous Smithsonian Institution museums, such as the Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, or the National Gallery of Art. This evening, embark on a D.C. Twilight Illumination Tour of the city’s most famous monuments, including those dedicated to Presidents Lincoln and Jefferson.

Day Four: FORD’S THEATRE – ANNAPOLIS – U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY
This morning, visit Ford’s Theatre, which opened in 1863 and has been restored to appear as it did the night John Wilkes Booth shot President Abraham Lincoln. Then, tour the Center for Education and Leadership, which features exhibits about President Lincoln’s life and legacy. Next, travel east to Annapolis, Maryland’s charming capital on the Chesapeake Bay. Explore its historic district, featuring 18th-century brick buildings and the domed Maryland State House. Enjoy leisure time for shopping and lunch on your own in the scenic Annapolis Harbor. In the afternoon, continue your exploration with a visit to the U.S. Naval Academy, known for its impressive waterfront campus, Beaux-Arts architecture, monuments, and naval history museum. Later head back to your Washington DC area hotel for an evening at your own pace.

Day Five: CAPITOL HILL – MOUNT VERNON – FAREWELL DINNER Today, arrive at Capitol Hill to visit the Capitol Visitor Center and learn about the U.S. lawmaking process. Then, tour the Library of Congress and view the exterior of the Supreme Court Building. Later, drive to Alexandria, Virginia, to visit Mount Vernon, George Washington’s beloved estate overlooking the Potomac River. Tour the historic home and gardens, and visit the gravesite of our first president. This evening, enjoy a special Farewell Dinner at a popular local restaurant in the Washington, D.C., area.
