DAY 1: DEPART THE USA

DAY 2: ARRIVE IN ETERNAL ROME
Welcome to Italy! After clearing customs, meet your Tour Director. Your tour begins with a three-night stay in the “Eternal City” of Rome, the capital and largest city in Italy. A Welcome Dinner is included this evening.

DAY 3: ROME – THE COLOSSEUM – ST. PETER’S BASILICA
Enjoy a panoramic Rome city tour with a local guide. Board your motorcoach for a relaxing overview of Imperial Rome, seeing highlights such as the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, Circus Maximus, Piazza Venezia, and the Pantheon. Walk over cobblestone streets to see the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and more. Next, walk in the footsteps of ancient gladiators during an in-depth visit inside the Colosseum. Later, visit St. Peter’s Basilica to see Michelangelo’s Pietà, sculpted when he was just 24 years old, as well as Bernini’s seven story bronze canopy located above the main altar. The evening is at leisure in Rome.

DAY 4: ROME
The entire day is at leisure for independent sightseeing and exploring Rome at your own pace. Indulge in an espresso in Piazza Navona, shop along Via del Corso, or walk up the Spanish Steps. Perhaps spend the day at the Vatican Museums, offering a vast collection of ancient Greek sculptures, medieval tapestries, and Renaissance paintings, including the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s mural The Last Judgement.

DAY 5: ROME – MONTECASSINO – AMALFI COAST
Journey today to the Amalfi Coast, an iconic coastline of rocky beaches and towering cliffs. Stop at the Benedictine Monastery of Montecassino, perched on a mountaintop that played a pivotal role in World War II. Discover its history while exploring the monastery’s ornate chapel and courtyards. Later, check into your hotel for a four-night stay. Dinner is included this evening.

DAY 6: SORRENTO
Start the day with a Sorrento walking tour. This charming coastal town faces the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula, perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its marinas. The historic center is home to the Church of San Francesco, a 14th-century church, and is the birthplace of limoncello liqueur. Enjoy a limoncello demonstration, learning how it’s made, followed by a tasting. The afternoon is yours to enjoy lunch on your own and explore at leisure. Perhaps shop along Corso Italia, Via Antonino Sersale, or Via S. Nicola, or visit Piazza Tasso, a café-lined square filled with artisan shops selling local wares.

DAY 7: AMALFI COAST Enjoy a day at leisure to explore on your own. Perhaps join the full-day optional excursion to the Isle of Capri, an enchanting and picturesque island favored by the rich and famous, artists, and writers—and one of Italy’s must-see destinations. Board a jetfoil boat for your journey across the Bay of Naples to the Isle of Capri. Upon arrival at the port of Capri, you’ll transfer to Anacapri, with free time to explore on your own or visit Villa San Michele. Later, return to Capri with free time to shop, explore, and enjoy lunch on your own before returning to the mainland.

DAY 8: AMALFI (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE)
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day tour of the Amalfi Coast. This breathtaking stretch of coastline extends from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east and is considered one of Europe’s most magnificent coastal regions. Travel along the spectacular corniche road, winding past citrus plantations, vineyards, and tiny villages clinging to jagged cliffs that plunge straight into the sea. Continue to Amalfi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first sight of Amalfi is unforgettable, with its tightly packed villas and palaces seemingly tumbling down the cliffside toward the fishing port and beach below. Once a maritime power rivaling Venice, Amalfi’s golden age is symbolized by its stunning cathedral and Piazza Duomo.

DAY 9: EXPLORE POMPEII – NAPLES – ETERNAL ROME
Today, travel to Pompeii, one of Italy’s most famous archaeological sites. Explore this ancient community captured in time—the excavated ruins of the Roman city buried in volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, halting life instantly in its tracks. Walk through the city streets on a guided tour and discover remarkably preserved ancient architecture and artifacts that portray daily life in this first-century city. Next, travel to Naples and enjoy a panoramic city tour, seeing the Cathedral with its treasure chapel and basilica dating back to the 4th century, the Royal Palace, the beautiful Church of St. Francesco di Paola, the Town Hall Square, and more. Enjoy a pizza-making class and lunch. Arrive in Rome later today for an overnight stay.

DAY 10: ROME – CIAO! HOMEWARD BOUND CIAO! Transfer to the airport to board your flight home, filled with wonderful memories of Italy’s Amalfi Coast and Rome. (B)
DAY 10: ROME – ASSISI – FLORENCE
Depart Rome and travel north into the Umbrian countryside to the beautiful hilltop town of Assisi. During your guided walking tour, visit both the upper and lower parts of the Great Basilica of St. Francis. Everything in some way associated with St. Francis—who was born here in 1182—is found here. Later, arrive in Florence, home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, featuring a dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower designed by Giotto. Check into your hotel for a three-night stay.

DAY 11: FLORENCE – ACCADEMIA GALLERY / STATUE OF DAVID
Today, enjoy a Florence city tour featuring a visit to the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s masterpiece, the Statue of David, standing over 17 feet high. Next, see the Cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistry with its impressive “Gates of Paradise.” These buildings demonstrate the evolution of Florentine art and architecture from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Also see the open-air museum of Piazza della Signoria and Santa Croce, which houses the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo. This insightful walking tour also features a stroll across the famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge, lined with shops. Later, explore Florence on your own, shop, or enjoy an outdoor café. The evening is at leisure.

DAY 12: FLORENCE – FREE DAY AS YOU WISH
The entire day is free to explore Florence at your own pace. Perhaps visit the Uffizi Gallery, one of the oldest and most renowned art museums in the world, founded by the Medici family in 1581. It houses an extraordinary collection of Renaissance masterpieces by artists such as Michelangelo, da Vinci, and Botticelli.
Maybe indulge in an espresso or cappuccino at a local café or shop for souvenirs. The evening is free to enjoy Florence’s exceptional restaurants and cuisine.

DAY 13: FLORENCE – CIAO! HOMEWARD BOUND CIAO!
