Walnut Canyon National Monument

November 12, 2026

$119

Journey into Arizona’s High Country and discover one of the state’s most fascinating ancient landscapes. Carved into the forested cliffs just outside Flagstaff, Walnut Canyon is home to centuries-old dwellings tucked beneath dramatic limestone ledges—remarkable reminders of the people who once built their homes high above the canyon floor.

Established as a National Monument in 1915, Walnut Canyon protects an extraordinary collection of archaeological sites surrounded by towering pines, rugged canyon walls, and sweeping overlooks. As we explore, imagine what daily life was like for those who farmed, gathered water, and created a thriving community in this beautiful but challenging environment.

We’ll also enjoy lunch on self in historic downtown Flagstaff, home to wonderful local restaurants, cafés, galleries, and shops.
