Day One: Arrive Washington, D.C. Welcome to Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, meet your Tour Director and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay in the nation’s capital. This evening enjoy a Washington, D.C. Twilight Illumination Tour featuring the beautifully lit monuments dedicated to Lincoln, Jefferson, and Washington. Overnight: Washington, D.C.

Day Two: Potomac Scenic Eagle Rail This morning we visit the Patsy Cline Historic House in Winchester, Virginia. Patsy Cline was the first woman inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973 and remains one of the most celebrated voices in country music history. Later arrive at Wappocomo Station where we board the Potomac Scenic Eagle Railroad for a memorable three-hour journey aboard a vintage diesel train. The route winds through farmland dating back to the 1700s and along the South Branch of the Potomac River into a breathtaking canyon known as “The Trough,” home to nesting American bald eagles. After the train excursion we continue by motorcoach to Elkins, West Virginia for a two-night stay. This evening enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers. (B,L,D) Overnight: Elkins, WV

Day Three: New Tygart Flyer Train Mountains, waterfalls, and spectacular scenery await today as we board the New Tygart Flyer at restored Elkins Station. This four-hour round-trip rail journey travels deep into the West Virginia wilderness along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River to the breathtaking High Falls of Cheat, one of the most remote and beautiful waterfalls in the region. Vintage diesel locomotives carry us through sweeping curves and steep mountain grades before returning to Elkins. Later visit the West Virginia Railroad Museum, located in the historic Darden Mill and showcasing the state’s rich railroad heritage. (B,L) Overnight: Elkins, WV

Day Four: Greenbrier Resort & Bunker Tour Today we travel through the Appalachian Mountains to the legendary Greenbrier Resort for a memorable overnight stay. This afternoon enjoy a fascinating docent-led tour of the Greenbrier Bunker, a once top-secret Cold War facility built in 1958 beneath the resort. The bunker was designed to house the President, Congress, and key government officials in the event of a national emergency. This evening enjoy fine dining in the resort’s elegant Main Dining Room with your fellow travelers. (B,D) Overnight: Greenbrier Resort

Day Five: Greenbrier – Monticello – Williamsburg After breakfast we travel to Charlottesville, Virginia to visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Explore the fascinating exhibits in the Smith Gallery, watch a film about Jefferson’s life, and tour the beautifully preserved mountaintop estate and gardens. Later continue to Williamsburg, where we settle in for a three-night stay in one of America’s most historic destinations.(B) Overnight: Williamsburg

Day Six: Jamestown & Yorktown Today we step back in time to the beginnings of America. Visit Jamestown Settlement, a living history museum recreating the first permanent English settlement established in 1607. Explore immersive exhibits, replica ships, and outdoor historical recreations. Later travel to Yorktown, where the American Revolution effectively ended when British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington’s troops in 1781. Visit the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, featuring fascinating artifacts, immersive galleries, and outdoor historical encampments.(B) Overnight: Williamsburg

Day Seven: Colonial Williamsburg Today explore Colonial Williamsburg, the largest living history museum in the United States. Begin at the Visitor Center before strolling through the restored streets of this remarkable 18th-century town. Interact with costumed interpreters, watch craftsmen demonstrations, and visit historic buildings including taverns, homes, and government buildings where the story of America’s founding unfolded. This evening enjoy a memorable Colonial Farewell Dinner with your fellow travelers. (B,D) Overnight: Williamsburg

Day Eight: Williamsburg – Washington, D.C. – Flight Home Today travel back to the Washington, D.C. area for your return flight home, bringing with you wonderful memories of your West Virginia Rails & Williamsburg adventure.(B)
