Flagstaff: Past & Peaks (West Valley Pickups)

August 26, 2026

$155

Long before Flagstaff became Northern Arizona’s favorite mountain escape, it was a thriving frontier community nestled beneath the towering ponderosa pines of the San Francisco Peaks. Join us as we explore the history, flavors, and spectacular scenery that make Flagstaff one of Arizona’s most beloved destinations.

Our day begins at Riordan Mansion State Historic Park, where we’ll enjoy a guided tour of one of Arizona’s finest Arts and Crafts homes. Built in 1904 by brothers Timothy and Michael Riordan, this remarkable 13,000-square-foot mansion tells the story of one of Arizona Territory’s most influential families. Constructed from local ponderosa pine and volcanic stone, the home was designed by renowned architect Charles Whittlesey, whose work also includes the iconic El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon.

Next, we’ll enjoy an included lunch at 1899 Bar & Grill, located on the campus of Northern Arizona University. Operated by students in NAU’s nationally recognized School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, the restaurant is known for its creative cuisine, welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality.

This afternoon, we’ll travel the spectacular San Francisco Peaks Scenic Loop along Highway 180, circling Arizona’s highest mountain through towering ponderosa pine forests, shady aspen groves, open meadows, and unforgettable mountain vistas. We’ll make scenic stops along the way to soak in the fresh mountain air and admire some of Northern Arizona’s most beautiful landscapes.

History, mountain scenery, and a wonderful included lunch come together for a memorable day in Flagstaff.
